It’s Time to Get Moving!
It’s Time to Get Moving!
Spring is in the air. Are you moving more? “Even small amounts of physical activity added to your daily routine can help to reduce stress and lead to health benefits in return,” says Lauren Dolinski, MPH, CHES, employee wellness specialist. With the American Adventures challenge registration opening on March 6, you can aim to increase your physical activity week by week.
Exercise will:
• Improve your mood
•Improve your ability to do daily activities helping to prevent falls
•Reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease
•Reduce your risk of type 2 Diabetes and metabolic syndrome
Tips to make exercise part of your day:
•Pack your gym bag the night before and leave it by the front door
•Pick a time to exercise that works best for you
•Break up your exercise time into two 10 minute workouts
•Have a goal distance in mind when walking and use landmarks as a guide
•Ask a friend to join you for your routine – and hold each other accountable
For more advice, check out the CDC recommendations for physical activity.
